HARVARD SQUARE – CAMBRIDGE
As I begin my commute the morning energy is already buzzing. Harvard Square has always been one of my favorite places in the Boston area – a timeless blend of old and new, where brick and cobblestone meet the rhythm of modern life.
On this crisp fall morning, the air feels refreshing, and the blend of fresh air and caffeine slowly wakes me up.

HARVARD MBTA BUS STOP
The 73 bus, linking Harvard and Waverley Square, pulls up to the stop. During rush hour, one arrives every 10 minutes or so – a convenience I appreciate, since morning routines can be unpredictable!
I step aboard, tap my CharlieCard, and find an empty seat – one of the many perks of reverse commuting. Settling in, I sit back and relax as the bus heads out of Harvard Square.

WATERTOWN, MA
The ride is peaceful. I sip my coffee, scroll through my social media feeds, and check my emails.
The bus makes a few stops in Cambridge, Watertown, and Belmont, picking up more passengers along the way before reaching my stop at Waverley Square. The entire ride typically takes just about 20 minutes – quick, simple, and stress-free.

WAVERLEY SQUARE – BELMONT
We arrive at Waverley Square – also home to the Waverley MBTA Commuter Rail Station. I step off the bus and begin the walk toward Waverley Oaks Park. A park shuttle runs regularly during the morning, making stops at Alewife Station, Waverley Station, and two convenient points within the park itself.
But the weather is beautiful, so I skip the shuttle and enjoy the 12-minute walk instead.

BELMONT, MA
I head down a quiet residential street that links Waverley Square to Beaver Brook Reservation.
Along the way, I pass a charming Little Free Library filled with well-loved books waiting to be discovered.

BEAVER BROOK RESERVATION
Tucked between Belmont and Waltham, Beaver Brook Reservation feels like a hidden gem of green space right in the middle of the morning commute. From ponds and athletic fields to wooded walking trails, picnic areas, and historic landmarks, it offers a refreshing pause before the workday begins.
The park is also a favorite for dogs and their owners, so I often pass a few cheerful pups on my way to Waverley Oaks Park.
