Typically buzzing with traffic, the busy intersection is quiet at this early hour. The usual rush of vehicles hasn’t fully picked up yet, giving the morning a calm, unhurried feel.
It’s a beautiful summer morning, with a refreshing breeze in the air. It’s the kind of morning that makes a car-free commute feel even more enjoyable.

554 BUS STOP
The Newton Corner MBTA stop also connects with several other bus lines, including Route 52, which connects Dedham and Watertown Yard, and Route 57, which travels from Kenmore Square through Allston/Brighton.
I step aboard, tap my CharlieCard, and find an empty seat – one of the many perks of reverse commuting.

I sit back and relax as the bus heads toward Waltham. The ride is peaceful. I scroll through my social media feeds and check a few emails.
Along the way, the route makes stops in Newtonville and West Newton before continuing through Waltham, picking up more passengers as we go.
